Quilts of Valor Workshop
Class Description: This will be a fun day of sewing and using your talents to recognize our service men and women who have made sacrifices for our country. Participants will have the option of several quilting activities including sewing quilt tops, blocks or presentation pillow cases. Susan Lane, our Quilt of Valor Coordinator will provide free patterns for blocks and quilts or you can bring your own. New quilters are welcome, a mentor will be available to assist you, however you must be familiar with operation of your own sewing machine and how to sew basic stitches. Quilt shop will discount all fabric for class by 10%
The Quilts of Valor organization is a non-profit Foundation that was started in November 2003 with the goal of making quilts that would both heal and comfort our war wounded. These quilts are called Quilts of Valor (QOVs). Wounds that qualify are those that are both seen and unseen - the phrase "touched by war" is often used as a way of identifying recipients.
Instructor: Susan Lane, Quilts of Valor Coordinator for the Northeast Tennessee / Southwest Virginia area.
Class Fee: No charge. Donations to the Quilts of Valor Foundation are suggested.
For more information on this wonderful effort, please see the QOV Foundation website at www.QOVF.org.
